TWC Youth Windsurfing Camp is a great way for kids to develop their windsurfing skills, get fit and have fun. Kids aged 10 to 17, at any skill level, are welcome.
Programs run all summer, Monday to Friday, rain or shine. Camp hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with regular drop-off from 8:30 a.m. and pickup until 4:30 p.m. Early drop-off from 8:00 a.m. and late pickup until 5:30 p.m. are available for a small weekly fee.
Courses and Activities
Courses are offered at three levels, from beginner to advanced, and follow CANSail Windsurf, the national training standards for windsurfing from Sail Canada.
- Beginners will learn rigging, launching, steering, and basic tacks and gybes.
- More advanced kids will focus on harness and footstrap technique, control in higher wind, and basic racing and freestyle skills.
- Key knowledge for all includes basic sailing concepts, seamanship and water safety.
Kids will also enjoy many other activities on the water and on land. A favorite tradition is the weekly windsurf cruise and picnic at Ward's Island Beach.
In addition to windsurfing, kids will be able to participate in a variety of fun stand up paddling activities. See the SUP Activities section for more details.
TWC instructors are highly qualified and experienced. They are certified by Sail Canada and have prerequisites in First Aid, CPR and water safety. The coach boat drivers are fully licensed. Some instructors are also accomplished racers at the provincial or national level.
All participants must be able to swim independently for a minimum of 25 meters.
