The 2015 championships are fast approaching and will be held at the Britannia Yacht Club in Ottawa. Please follow the link below for more information:

4 Sisters Regatta

This is Race No. 3 in our Summer Race Series!  If you are interested in going to the 4 Sisters Regatta hosted by Port Credit Yacht Club on July 25th and 26th, then follow the link below to register. You do need to know that the early registration deadline is fast approaching (July 18th). If you download the NOR while it doesn't explicitly say that windsurfer classes are eligible fleets - we are. PCYC is happy to have us race with them and when you register you will see a class option for Raceboard, Kona or 'Windurfer' (which I think is perhaps just a generic class). It sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

Here is the link to registration:

It is under Open Regattas/Dingy Open Regattas.  Then click on the Four Sisters and look for the Registration button.

Several  TWC events require boat drivers. We currently need to qualify more boat drivers for our 2 power boats. Port Toronto ( used to be Toronto port Authority) requires a TPA license. for all power boat operators in the Outer Harbor and inner harbor. If you are interested in helping our with boat operations at our club events and want to get qualified please send Mike Tindall an e mail at : Mike will organize  a special TPA course at the club one evening. The $30 fee will be covered by the TWC, provided you help out at events at the club by operating a power boat. People with experience operating a power boat would be preferred, however if you have never operated a boat and would like to learn an additional evening training  session will be provided before the TPA course./test. Please let Mike know ASAP as we would like to organize the course before the end of June.

On Saturday June 27 Toronto Windsurfing Club will be holding Race #2.   Fleets consist of RSX, Raceboard, Kona and Bic 293.   Skippers meeting is at noon with first start at 1pm.  We will have a highly experienced race committee as they are from the Pan Am games.   All levels of racers are welcome.

For those with limited racing experiencing we will be holding a race clinic starting at 11 am.

Racing will run from 1pm with no race started past 5pm for a total of 4 races.

Please come and join us.

Many members help the club by purchasing items such as food, gas, etc. and this is encouraged! If you make a purchase on the club's behalf, the best way to get reimbursed is to send an email to with:

  • a scan or pictures your receipts;
  • your name (this will appear on cheque);
  • the address you want cheque mailed to (the address in our database will be used if no address is given);
  • what the purchase was for; and
  • board member who approved purchase (applicable for large purchases, not necessary for minor items).

During the racing season, most requests for payment received on Sunday will be processed and then signed Wednesday at the race. If you are present we will give your cheque to you, otherwise it will go in the mail Thursday.  Please note that occasionally circumstances beyond our control will delay the cheque until the following week.

That was a great day we had! Perfect weather and nice conditions for running all our races - plus we had our largest turnout yet.

There were 49 SUP racers and 24 surfski racers for a total of 73 racers. Among the SUP racers, there were 23 in the Elite race, 17 in the Rec race and 9 in the kids race. There were actually 11 kids racing, but 2 of them did the Rec Race instead of the Kids race. NIce to see so many kids racing - and they're getting faster!

The Elite SUP course was 2 laps and 7.2km long and the Rec course was 1 lap and 3.6km. It was laid out to be mostly upwind and downwind. The upwind portion contained most of the turns, which were placed in the slightly more sheltered portion closer to the Leslie St. Spit and one long downwind leg more in the open. Here's a map taken from my GPS track:
