Youth Summer CampUpdate 2021We currently plan to run our Camp in 2021, subject to public health considerations. Registration for 2021 is now open but spaces are filling up quickly. Our approach to COVID-19 will reflect public health regulations, guidance from Sail Canada and Ontario Sailing, and our own experience with running a safe and successful program last summer. What are the activities?Activities include windsurfing instruction, stand up paddling (SUP), games and windsurf cruises to Toronto Island. Instruction is based on CANSail Windsurf, the national training standards for windsurfing from Sail Canada. Campers are usually divided into four groups (beginner to advanced) for instruction geared to their skill level. For program details, including specific dates and fees, please go to our registration page. More experienced sailors can also participate in spring and fall training on weekends and even join club trips. Learn more here.Who are the instructors?
Tell me about safety at the camp? All staff receive extensive preseason training that includes effective communication skills, dealing with emergencies, and teaching and supervising young people. They are also certified in First Aid/CPR and hold other qualifications and permits in water safety and the operation of a power boat. The club owns four power boats that are used to assist campers in need of help and facilitate on water coaching. We have policies and procedures in place to deal with a range of different safety related situations. Our safety record is excellent! |
