TWC Fall Garden Cleanup 2023 - Volunteers needed

Toronto Windsurfing Club is looking for 10 volunteers this Saturday November 4, 2023 from 10:30am to 12:30pm to continue the amazing work we started earlier this year in the gardens with invasive plant removal and new plant and tree installations. (Rain date Sunday November 5.)

Anna Hoad, Toronto Nature Stewarts leader for Cherry Beach is back to help us with:

• Invasive species removal - removing a few buckthorn on Regatta
• A quick check for litter along the bike path and creek sides
• Fertilizing the raspberry bushes and adding branches to protect them from rabbits and groundhogs
• Scattering wild flower seeds in the patch north of the parking lot, e.g. milkweed and asters, just because they’re pretty. If you happen to see wild sunflowers (about 4-6 feet tall) blooming now in your neighbourhood, clip the old seed heads into a paper bag and bring them. 
  

What to wear:

• Boots or sneakers
• Long pants tucked into long socks, long sleeve top

Tools and gloves are supplied.
